Mega Impact Foundation in synergy with the Delta State Girl Child Empowerment Office and Molped Sanitary Pads hosted her maiden edition of her initiative tagged "PADDED' in commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day at Infant Jesus Academy, Asaba, Delta State, the event was held on the 28th of May 2021.
The event had in attendance female students from different Secondary Schools across Asaba, Delta State. They were thoroughly sensitized and enlightened in the one day experiential training trainer’s workshop on the importance of living a healthy reproductive lifestyle.
With the project’s primary objective which is to celebrate girls whilst highlighting and proffering solutions to challenges faced by them in the 21st century which include, trafficking, GBV and incomprehensive reproductive health education in mind, MIF brought together a team of professionals in child development and education to share their experiences and also teach participants.
After the group discussion, each group made a presentation of the outcome of their findings to the whole audience. Some key factors mitigating against their reproductive health were highlighted and they include but not limited to the following.
• Lack of reproductive health education in schools and non-availability of counselors
• Parental roles in managing their female children as it concerns their reproductive health
• Benefits and challenges of medications during their menstrual cycle.
